Today, many young people understand that the era of working in Corporate America and remaining loyal to a company to retire with a gold watch is "dead".

And many are taking control of their future destinies by becoming entrepreneurs and joining multi-level marketing and network marketing companies.  And in so doing, they are utilizing to the fullest all of the technology tools today that exist including website creation, social media forums, direct contacts, affiliate marketing, etc. to create and expand their business opportunities.

They have been supported in this regard by well known authors like "Rich Dad, Poor Dad's" Robert Kiyosaki who in one of his many bestselling books referred to network marketing and multi-level marketing opportunities as The New Business Opportunity of the 21st Century . 

Robert has gone on to say that "network marketing is for people who want to win, because network marketing is the business model for the future."

Warren Buffett also supports network marketing and has said of the three network/direct marketing companies his Berkshire Hathaway company owns:  "this was the best investment I ever made."

Even "the Donald", Donald Trump recommends network marketing; and, has started his own network marketing company, called The Trump Network to get into the direct marketing game.

But despite this trend, and the facts that many people are generating wealth, there persists a notion and perception amongst many people that MLMs and Network Marketing Companies are fraudulent Pyramid scams wherein only a few people generate wealth on the backs of many who do not.

Nothing could be further from the truth.  So let's put an end to this myth and expose the realities of this very legitimate and very successful business model.

First of all, it should made very clear that pyramids and pyramid schemes are illegal in the United States and most countries in the world.  In the U.S. these business models have been contested and adjudicated in the courts as sound and legitimate business models.  If any of these programs today were fraudulent, the principals would be arrested.  Multi-level marketing companies and their business model are legally marketed directly to potential end users/purchasers because are not a pyramidal scam as corporate traditionalists like to claim.

Second, these "direct marketing" business models were originated by creative people "thinking outside" of the corporate box.

Essentially, Multi-Level Marketing and Network Marketing Companies utilize direct marketing techniques with people networking to deliver the company's product(s) direct to consumers.  Effectively this is a more direct and cost efficient method (eliminates costly overhead and advertising) to market a company's goods to consumers.  Companies who use this business system typically save on retail space rental, marketing costs associated with promotions and advertising, labor costs, and other distributor markups.  They then are able to typically increase net profit margins (from the savings methodology), which allows them to typically redistribute 40 to 50 % or more of the net profits back to the company's network of independent contractors.  It becomes a very efficient and effective way of marketing a product to reach maximum exposure and penetration within the product's market.  This system also compensates those directly and fairly for their efforts.  And, unlike in corporate America where everyone is self-promoting and competing against their fellow employees to climb the corporate ladder; or, trying to hold good people down because they could be a threat to ones own advancement, the Network Marketing business system model actually facilitates & rewards cooperation, support, teamwork, and a mindset that encourages helping others to grow and advance as quickly as possible as well.  A win-win scenario for all.

Surprisingly, the most pyramidal marketing structure, if any, is the business model of Corporate America.  To easily understand this, look at the shirt you may be wearing for instance.  For example, if it is cotton, it started off with a farmer growing it.  Once harvested, it is then sold to a processing mill to clean it, separate it and then spin it into thread.  The thread is then dyed, marked up in price for profit, and sold to a textile manufacturer who then turns it into a material.  The material is then marked up and sold to clothing manufacturers, who use it to create shirts, pants...  From there the finished clothing is then marked up and sold to prospective retailers.  Retailers then factor in their shipping costs, labor costs, marketing costs and other operating costs plus their profit margins before marking it up again for sale to consumers.  At each step of this pyramidal ladder in the food chain, the good is marked up for profit by each of those involved.

So I ask you, are network marketing companies pyramids, understanding that all products sold in corporate America come from pyramidal structures?

Don't let the traditional corporate pyramidal model of doing business (from selling products to managing employees) confuse you or prevent you from "thinking outside of the box" and discovering a multi-level marketing or network marketing company opportunity with its direct marketing approach.  This alternative marketing approach could help you to establish your own business (with significant tax incentives and breaks) at a very low initial cost, so that you can truly achieve your dreams and financial goals.

Just make sure that in looking at any opportunity, you first look into the company, its leadership, its product or service, and the market that it is competing in.  Like in anything, there are good companies and products as well as bad companies and products out there.
