This is a concept I’ve been thinking about for quite a few days now and I think it’s important for everyone to really grasp as they’re starting to build their network marketing business. Many times, we get in our own way and it stops us from really building the business effectively. What do I mean by that? Well, instead of waiting until you think you have the perfect lead capture page, the perfect presentation, the perfect article, the perfect video, or the perfect lead generation strategy: JUST START.

This is something I personally REALLY struggled with when I first got online trying to build my business. I was scared I was going to make a mistake and because of that, everything I did took 10 times longer and I spent a long while every single day spinning my wheels. First, I would spend hours and hours recording the ‘perfect presentation’ – even when I had NO leads that were even going to see it! Then, I would look online for the latest and greatest lead generation strategy and learn it. Then, when I got done learning it, I would say to myself, ‘well maybe this isn’t the BEST way’ and then look for the next latest and greatest thing. When I finally focused in on content marketing (my core marketing strategy) I was scared I would look stupid on a video so I would spend 3-4 hours shooting a silly little 3 minute video. I was scared my article sounded bad so I would get it completely done and then delete the whole thing and start over.

Doesn’t that sound totally ridiculous? It was. The reason I’m writing this post right now though is because I know there are people out there just like I was that are standing in their own way of sponsoring more reps and actually getting into profit with this business.

Here’s what I learned from trying to do this business ‘perfect:’ I learned that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to see success until you’ve made mistakes! If you spend a million hours trying to make everything perfect, there is absolutely no way as a new person in this industry that you won’t make SOME mistakes. (Likely LOTS of mistakes!) But mistakes are GOOD. Mistakes in this business help you grow faster and stronger. I’d have been 10 times further along in the beginning if I would have just shot a silly video as a total noob, and then instead of shooting just one video, shooting 4 or 5 in the time I was spending re-shooting and re-shooting the 1.

Taking action is the key; STARTING; actually being consistent. This business has absolutely nothing to do with perfection. In fact, I notice that if you seem ‘too perfect’ in presentations or in videos or articles people relate less with you and then as a result, you get less leads and sponsor less people into your business.

Just my two cents for the day…So to all my perfectionist friends out there: Get out of your own way and sponsor more reps :)
