Ok, I’ve been meaning to cover this for a while now….

As I’ve said before, link building will either make or break your website.  Whether you like it or not, that’s the truth. And… It’s funny how over 50% of webmasters have never even heard the term link building. And the ones that have heard of it don’t have a clue how to actually build links. So over the past 2 years, I’ve been able to master the Internet, blogging, SEO and most importantly Internet Marketing. (in other words, making people buy stuff)

Anyways, link building is vital. As without backlinks, your blog or website will go absolutely nowhere. I actually started my first blog before I knew anything about SEO… And guess what? I think I had a total of 189 visitors in 3 months. Yeah, it sucked…

I was really depressed at the time and damn frustrated. I figured if I put up some content, I would just “attract” visitors. I was dead wrong, so I went on a voyage to discover the secrets of Internet Marketing and SEO. A couple of months later, I figured it out! I tried just about everything and ended up with a link building strategy that completely rocked my world! (world meaning blog)

I came up with a simple strategy that actually worked! So let me tell you exactly what I did. As I’ve said before, link building can be tough. Especially if you’re trying to do things manually. So I say buy some software and let it do the “heavy lifting” for you! So, what did I do to get my Alexa ranking below 20,000?

I simply wrote A LOT of quality content, targeted tough keywords, rewrote my articles and submitted them to a whole bunch of article directories/blog networks! Yeah, that’s my secret strategy! I know, it’s nothing special, but it’s what works! Seriously, your link building strategy doesn’t have to be complicated! Why is it that people don’t believe in anything simple? Instead they attempt the impossible with complex link building strategies that rarely work!

Now here’s what you do. You write a lot of quality content. During the growing phase, I advise you to update your site with new content at least 3 times a week. Then for maintaining your site’s traffic and rankings, you only need to update it like once a week. So, every piece of content you publish should target a keyword. It should also be of the highest quality imaginable and it absolutely must be relevant to your niche.

Something to remember, if you spend an hour or two per post, you should be able to produce somewhat outstanding content. I’m talking in terms of web content. As we all know that 90% of online content is total crap. Anyway, I am going off topic, back to link building. (I just want to stress how important your content is, as good content will lead to more subscribers, sales and repeat visitors)

Anyway, I believe in diversity. As the way up to the top of Google is a variety of backlinks. I mostly use article directories and blog networks to gain links. Whenever I publish something on my blog, I have a bunch of articles written and spun. From there I have the articles submitted to thousands of article directories and a few blog networks. The blog networks and tools I use are mentioned in my famous Internet Marketing toolbox. (David Wood Recommends Page) What I’ve just told you is a huge part of my SEO strategy. What I do is simple and it works.

So, whatever link building you’re doing, it’s probably working. You just need to scale it up and diversify a little. I was browsing the web and came across this cool image below:

As you can see, there’s a whole bunch of different backlinks. And you know what? I don’t even use half of them, yet I have a blog with an Alexa ranking of under 20k. (I actually think it’s been more like 15k recently) Anyways… all those links will help your site rank well… But at the end of the day, it will all come down to the fundamentals. The fundamentals being hard work, consistency and lots of fresh content.

So to sum up this thrilling blog post, you just need to build a variety of backlinks. At least that’s what everyone else says. While this may contradict with my whole diversity speech… the truth is that I only build like 3 kinds of backlinks. Mainly using article directories and blog networks. So… You can mess around with crazy multi tiered link building schemes all you like… But the fact remains; there is no ultimate link building strategy. Just start doing something; maybe start submitting articles to directories. Then… diversify and start incorporating other links into your overall link building strategy. Just remember to start small, gradually grow your “link building portfolio” and scale it up! The rankings and traffic will follow!
